Internet continues its free iBurst offer... this time taking its exciting free mobile broadband offer to Sydney... A world first we believe.
After successful launches in Canberra and the Gold Coast, Internet moves to add another city to the free offer with its plan to introduce free mobile broadband to Sydney. Internet's Marketing Manager Bill McArthur says "Our idea is based on Google's free Internet offer to the City of San Francisco. As far as we've seen, the San Francisco free offer still hasn't gone live. We are extremely proud to offer this service to Sydney and to beat Google in setting up a major International city for mobile broadband."
The positive response from the residents of Canberra and the Gold Coast shows that Internet can now offer this product across Australia where iBurst has coverage Internet plans to launch free mobile broadband in Melbourne in the following weeks, with Perth and Adelaide to follow in the coming months.
Internet will be providing 200Mb of free data per month on their high speed iBurst product, which enables connection from iBurst coverage areas of Sydney.
The iBurst technology allows laptop users to remain connected - at speeds of up to 1Mbps - even while travelling between suburbs. The great news is that after buying an iBurst modem and paying the standard set-up fee, Mr McArthur says there will be absolutely no ongoing fees if the user stays under the data limit of 200Mb. Once a user goes over the 200Mb there will be a 22 cent charge per Mb.
Mr McArthur adds, "We're also glad to beat the government to the punch by offer mobile broadband to Sydney residents now. As there is an election coming up soon, we don't know if this promise is political or not. It does however give an example of what can be accomplished by a mid-sized company that is growing fast and determined to lead the world in an Internet first.
The iBurst network now covers Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Canberra with small parts of Adelaide and Perth now live. Users who wish to sign up for the service will need to visit
